Question

Rosetta in 2024 vs 2025

Photoshop 2024 runs a bunch of Topaz Apps using Rosetta.  Using Rosetta in 2025 leaves the apps greyed out.  The plug-ins have been copied from 20-24 into 2025.  I can maintain both years apps on my machine and use them selectively; but that does not explain the issue.

@laurences46460416 I had to ask the IT manager here and showed him this question...

As you know, Rosetta is exclusively for Macs with Apple silicon processors (like the M1, M2, M3, etc.). Rosetta allows you to run apps designed for Intel-based Macs on Apple silicon Macs. So, in this cse, Photoshop 2024 uses a special program called Rosetta to run some of its features.

However, Photoshop 2025 is greyed out. This means that some of the older features that relied on Rosetta might not work correctly in the newer version. Even though you copied the plugins, they still might not work because Photoshop 2025 doesn't understand how to use them in the same way. It is a known bug.

There is a post from November 2024, that has a solution from Correct answer by Jeff Arola
