Save for Web > Eye dropper no longer selects color in Color Table for GIF / PNG-8

In every version of Photoshop I’ve used since Save for Web was introduced, you’ve been able to use the eye dropper tool to select a color in the Color Table (visible for GIF and PNG-8 formats), allowing you to locate, lock / unlock colors, etc.

This no longer works.

I’m using version 27.7.0 on Mac.

Hey, @abpositive. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I’ll help you figure this out.

Following what @Jeff Arola has shared will skip using the new Save For Web Ui. It’ll help if you could share a video of the current workflow breakage that you see.

    Thanks!

Go to Photoshop 2026>Setting>Technology Previews, uncheck Enable Modern User Interface and restart Photoshop.

In Photoshop 27.7 Adobe updated the Save for Web dialog to the “Modern User Interface”, but unfortunately a number of functions that used to work in the Save for Web dialog no longer do when Enable Modern User Interfaced is checked.
