Saving pds-files as jpg

When I merge pds-files and save them as jpg-files (choosing JPEG format in the menu), the postfix will not change to .jpg but remains .pds. And Photoshop is totaly confused when I try to open it again... This must be a bug in a recent update - never had this problem before....

There are problems with Catalina - you should always wait for AT LEAST a month befeore upgrading to a new operating system, to be sure that all of the programs you use are going to keep working properly

I now read this is a problem connected to update to macOS Catalina... Any clue about when this will be fixed?
