Scaling collections with vector masks - strange behaviour

It constantly happened during the last months, so I felt like I had to say something.
This one was quite "mellow". I could see what I was doing. Often, I can't even see what's going on since the vector mask gone crazy is covering up what I actually want to transform. It seems like the moment you transform the group contents, even just move or slightly rotate etc., the mask gets scaled up approx. 3-fold and moves with the transform.
This is a huge problem, for example, when I define a midpoint, then have to zoom out, zoom in again so I can see the transforming handle on top, then rotate by just a hair, like 0,1 degrees and the mask covers what I need to see.
Well visible on attached screenshots, too.
The lag is because the group contains a number of high res layers.
