Scratch Disk not working correctly with ExFAT formatted drive on macOS

Yes, don't use exFAT on mac, that's a Windows format. Use APFS or HFS Extended.

Thanks @terrence5E30, and sorry for the scratch disk frustration. 

Definitely agree with Cory that setting your RAM usage in Ps Performance Preferences back down to 70% would be a good step here. Give that a try and let us know if it makes a difference for you. 

In our upcoming release, we'll be adding an ability to have the scratch disk provide some logs. So, if you're up for it, look for a message from us soon with some instructions after that update has been released.

Lastly, what @D Fosse mentions also is a quite worthwhile troubleshooting step. Do you think you'd be able to clear one of the drives off so it could be formatted to APFS rather than having an ExFAT file system?

Sorry @terrence5E30 I mispoke above, try setting memory to 70% and see if this works.  Still trying to figure out why this is happening to you.

Hi @terrence5E30, thank you for sharing your sysinfo.  It appears you don't have enough RAM to run Ps as you need at least 8GB of ram, and your setting should be 70% for Ps (yours is set to 100%). UPDATE... 8GB for the system, not just Ps.... but your setting at 100% should be turned down to 70 and see if that works... sorry for the confusion.

exFAT is known to be problematic in newer MacOS versions. Save out the content on a different drive, and reformat to APFS.

Hi @terrence5E30 sorry to hear this. It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
