Question

Script to make each character use a random glyph alternative

Hello everyone. I've made a script to input data onto psds. But i can't make the text 100% random. I will be entering the same data so I want it to select a random alternate glyph for each character each time. Do you think it's possible?

I'll note that the font is already set to randomise, and it's a custom font I made. Thx

I agree with @c.pfaffenbichler. In Illustrator, you can use the Touch Type Tool to manually select and modify individual glyphs. I wonder if that might be scriptable.

Not if the text is in a smart object

Illustrator and Indesign seem to be superior to Photoshop in Type-related features so why do you do this in Photoshop (Smart Objects or not)?

Maybe one of the links in this thread could be of interest:

What does that mean?

I wonder if such type-specific work would not better be done in Illustrator or Indesign.

It means contextual alternatives is on I guess. But that's no help when you're using the same words.

I don't think I can use illustrator or indesign because it's smart object text I'm editing.
