Select and Mask Tools not working

I made a rough selection using the quick selection tool. I clicked on the "select and mask" button. It opens up in the proper window and shows the unselected area with a red mask. However, when I click on one of the tools, say the refine edge tool and try to use it nothing happens. Same for the other tools as well.

You also have show edge checked - which is only used to confirm where refine edge will act. So uncheck that also.

I have a similar problem. None of the tools do anything. I believe my issue is that "Real Time Refinement" is grayed out cannot be selected. 64 bit Windows 10 running on a Dell XPS 8910. Lots of RAM and disk space. Latest PS update. Current Windows update.

Same exact issue. It's greyed out on mine too. Same with the brush in the option bar at the top. I have the latest updates for apps, drivers, and Windows. I have a new computer with plenty of RAM and disk space as well. I'm running an Intel Core i7-14700F processor, Asus Prime B760M motherboard, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card, an 32gb of RAM. I shouldn't have any issues, yet I do.

Same issues even with latest CC update. Selection ok but any attempt at refinement doesn't work, the selection justr remains the same regardless of view mode. tries switching between legacy comp and GPU? settings to to effect.

Could you please post a screenshot taken at View > 100% and with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far?

I have so far shut down the computer and restarted, closed Photoshop CC 2018 and reopened it. The hand and magnify tools work, the other three don't.

You have Show original checked (top right). That shows the image before any Select and Mask tools were used enabling you to check for changes. Uncheck it
