Select Background not working

Versión de Adobe Photoshop: 27.5.0 20260323.r.13 dee573e  x64 (final: Release), al momento de eliminar el fondo de una foto desde la barra de tareas contextuales me salta un mensaje: no se a encontrado el fondo que desea eliminar, la capa la tengo desbloqueada y anteriormente me recortaba el fondo sin ningún problema. que pasos debo seguir para corregir dicho error?

The subject threw me off; the image background does not have to be selected to remove it.

I successfully removed the background of several one-layer images, whether the Background Layer was locked or not. Contextual bar>Remove background created the mask that “disguises” the background.
