Select same appearance like in Illustrator

Hi community.

is there a way in PS to be able to select the same apperance of layers which have the same colour, the same way it can be done in Illustrator? I have 10 groups, and in each group there is a black background that I want to hide or remove all at once.

Thank you.

Try:

  • Group all groups.
  • Select all black with the magic wand or the colour range.
  • Create a layer mask for the new group and fill the selection in the mask with black.

Now you can show or hide all black areas by showing or hiding the layer mask of the entire group.

Thank you for your reply.

Although this method did work, it's not as convenient as in Illustrator. One reason is, the black I was using was a shape vector, in each layer, which needed to remain separate, and not to be grouped into one group. And also needed to rasterize the shape layer, in order the magic wand to work.

But it did give the result I needed. I wish PS could do some Illustrator convenient commands.

Kind regards.

Magic wand should work with shapes without problems - no need to rasterize
