Question

Severe Liquify Lag with Wacom Pen Tablet When GPU Is Enabled on macOS

Environment:
- macOS Sequoia 15.6.1 (Apple Silicon)
- Photoshop (latest)
- Wacom Pen Tablet

Issue:
- With GPU enabled, Liquify is very laggy ONLY when using a Wacom pen tablet.
- Liquify is smooth with a mouse or trackpad.
- Normal brush tools are smooth with the pen.

Workaround:
- Disabling “Use Graphics Processor” makes Liquify smooth with the pen,
but causes other Photoshop features to become slow or unavailable.

Summary:
This looks like a Liquify-specific GPU/Metal pen input issue on macOS.
The problem is fully reproducible.

Hi @Sunny_heart8498

Thanks for reaching out. Please check and update your Wacom drivers to ensure you’re using the latest version compatible with macOS Sequoia 15.6.1. Outdated drivers can cause input lag, especially in GPU-accelerated workflows. After updating, restart your Mac and re-test Liquify with the GPU enabled.

As a workaround, you can also bypass GPU usage only for Liquify:

  • Hold the ALT/Option key while using Liquify

This allows Liquify to run without GPU acceleration, so you don’t need to disable the graphics processor globally in Photoshop.
