Severe Performance Issues with Photoshop on High-End Workstation – Anyone Else?

Hello everyone,

I have a high-end Alienware workstation with 32GB of RAM, a 3.6GHz i7 processor, and an RTX 3080 graphics card.

Photoshop has always been exceptionally slow in my experience, and I genuinely believe this will lead to its downfall in the face of emerging competitors like Figma, Canva, and similar software.

For the past few weeks, the simple selection tool in Photoshop has become unbearably slow, making it impossible to work. Photoshop constantly freezes, crashes, and displays white blocks when I zoom in or out.

It is extremely frustrating and unacceptable to pay such a high price for such a buggy software!

I have tried everything: installing Nvidia's special studio driver, disabling GPU acceleration... everything!

Nothing changes; this software remains painfully slow.

When I perform a basic selection, even the selection cursor stutters, making precise selection impossible.

I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, updating... NOTHING works!

Frankly, I am fed up with using this overrated software that quadruples my production time.

I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this, but if there are others in the same situation, please speak up!

Photoshop 25.11.0
Winbdows 11 23H2
Alienware Aurora R12

@Olivier36696143bdp3 have you ever tried Affinity Photo, they're offering a 6-month free trial, it would be interesting to see how it runs compared to Photoshop

Hi @Ged_Traynor

Thank you for your response. Yes, I have tried everything, including manually resetting my Photoshop preferences as suggested. Unfortunately, the issues persist despite following those steps.

Working in Photoshop has become impossible. I often work with large PSB files, and the situation is dire—the software is worse than slow, it’s completely unusable.

What am I forced to do? Work on Canva!

This is incredibly frustrating, and I am honestly fed up with this situation.

If you have any other suggestions or have experienced similar issues and found a solution, please let me know.

I also have this problem with the latest update. "Unable to fulfill your request due to a software error."

@Olivier36696143bdp3 I'm not experiencing the issues you described on either of the PCs I that have Photoshop installed on, one has Windows 10 and the other Windows 11

Have you tried manually resetting your Photoshop preferences

Remember to back up your settings before doing the preference reset
