Smart object error when using shape layers

Using version 25.1.0 on M1 MacBook Pro, Ventura 13.6.

Having issues anytime the shape tool is used within a smart object. After creating a shape layer within a smart object and attempting to save I get the following error:

"Could not update smart object files because of a program error."

The same issue occurs if trying to open a smart object is created from an initial shape layer.
