Something for the Weekend - Part 257 - A lucky new year!

Thank you to all who took part in our previous Christmas challenge.

We have now entered a new year and, thanks to an idea by jane-e, I thought we should create something that represents good luck for 2026. With that in mind, we start with this 'lucky' horse-shoe. what can you make with it?

The “rules”:

  • Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry.
  • Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright, etc.
  • Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum “regulars”.
  • The challenge is not limited to Photoshop. Any Adobe software can be used.
  • There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off your skills, or bring a bit of humor and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
  • The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser). The image has a transparent background so there is no need to cut it out.

When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Have fun!

Dave.

I had to ask Google if anywhere still uses corks for their wine bottles, and was surprised to see that several countries still do.  I have racked my brain cell, but can't remember anyone saying 'This wine is screw capped.'  It doesn't have the same impact, and Kiwis are more likely to say 'That wine was munted', but only after drinking it anyway. 😉

A story of corks.

Some years ago I opened a lovely bottle of Portugeese Albarino.

Imagine my surprise to see musical notation on the cork.

I got my Uncle whos a musician, a music professor and a professional accordionist, who reached a unanimous view as to the tune, and I attach it. If you don’t know anyone who can play it let me know and I will get the box player to organise a sound file. The history of the piece is basically music for the love of the sea.

Lastly a video playing the tune 🙂 which you will need to download

Best regards, Euan.

A fine horse was intrigued by the little known Horseshoe Rock formation and had a look round; or had it a rider?
