Something for the Weekend - Part 260 - Stir it up!

Thanks to everyone who took part in our previous SFTW259 ‘lock gate’ challenge.

This week I heard Bob Marley’s ‘Stir it up’ and, once that ear-worm had taken hold, I had to base our starter image on something connected. I found this whisk as a 3D model, in Adobe 3D assets, and I textured it using Adobe Substance Painter.
The challenge is, what can you make with the whisk?

The “rules”:

  • Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry.
  • Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright, etc.
  • Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum “regulars”.
  • The challenge is not limited to Photoshop. Any Adobe software can be used.
  • There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off your skills, or bring a bit of humor and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
  • The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the starter image, click it then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

When posting back your image — please use the reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the bottom of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the reply button next to their image post.

Have fun!

Dave.

The counter, appliances, cabinets and lights are all inspired by parts of the whisk. He is definitely listening to Bob Marley.

This one’s a lot of fun Mr Turtle.  I love that it allows us to use the word ‘juxtaposition’ of the cartoon chef to the photorealistic kitchen.  Looking at the blurred Swoosh movement of the whisk should there be food spatter on the cupboard doors and window?  I’m also a bit worried about what the black blobs in the bowl might be?  I’d rather they had legs than hear they are olives.  Olives are the work of the devil, and it’s one of life’s great mysteries that some people pretend to like them.

Is the city background based on anywhere real?  It has Dubai's Burj Khalifa tower look about it.

Should there be food spatter on the cupboard doors and window?
    -No, he’s a professional.

I’m also a bit worried about what the black blobs in the bowl might be?
-They are chives and are intended to look green.

Is the city background based on anywhere real?
-No, that was generated from a prompt but I would put money the model was influenced by NYC.

I have a question for you, why do you consistently use two spaces after every period/question mark etc?

Nice, I hope he doesn’t step back too quickly though, with the mic stand through the whisk! 😮

That’s making me feel hungry. :-)  I am not so sure I’d want rusty veg though, and I can’t see a dull edge without wanting to sharpen it.

That is so funny! It literally made me laugh out loud, and I’m still smiling. I love that the flying people all look to be enjoying the experience. Even the dog. The spiralling light moves this from a fun image to a really quite beautiful one, complete with the warm glow on the cobblestones, and th4e shadow area beneath the cone is clever.  You have to be impressed with the people who built the model.

It’s interesting that it has a 16:9 aspect ratio, but does not conform to any video size I know of. (1376 x 768) It’s close to 720P though. A central aspect of these threads is learning from each other, so would you mind sharing your prompt and which model you used?

A really nice picture.  I’ve just noticed the name on the inn.  Shame about the faces of the low res people, but it will get better with time.

Glad you like it. It started with:

    1. In the shape of a tornado touching ground, a swirling, glowing spiral against a sky with some clouds and the light from sunset still visible
    2. Spiral literally sweeps people off of their feet in a whimsical, magical windstorm, people are happy and enjoy the magical moment
    3. Insert scene on a cobblestone main street of small town

In Photoshop I composited the whisk and gave the inn it’s name
