sony a6000 raw files with PS CS4

I have PS CS 4 v.11.0 and  sony a6000 raw files that cannot be open with PS CS4. I downloaded the camera raw plug in version 5.7 but does not work and noticed that for sony a6000 files it is necessary to have the camera raw version 8.4 that is not compatible with PS CS4. Unfortunately I still use windows xp and no updated version of PS can be installed. Finally I used the DNG converter but an error message appear when I try to convert saying: "the source file doeas not contain any file from cameras in the raw version supported". Today the sony support told me that their programme "playmemories home" for sony raw file is not compatible with windows xp and I have no other way to work on my raw photos.

Does anyone know what I can do?

    Unfortunately XP has not been supported since 2014 and finding a program that is bot compatible with your older OS and your newer Sony a6000 camera may be pretty difficult.

    XP is being out-phased. No software developer will support it today. However, you could have upgraded to Windows 10 for free at the time. Somehow, I have read somewhere (I don't know, however, where), that it could be still possible.

    Now that doesn't help you, but unfortunately, there is nothing that you can do now. I suppose it is time to upgrade your computer. If it is running XP, it is an older one...

    Just a last word : as XP is no more updated and there are no security updates any-more, it may be dangerous to expose that computer to the internet, as there are known unpatched errors in the OS.

    thank you very much.

    Anyway, I have never updated my computer because it was told me that with a new OS, it would have been not so responsive (I mean not so fast).

    At the moment, for the few things I do by the computer, it is still fast and good for me. Anyway I will look for a new one.

    What version of the adobe dng converter did you install?

    Officially windows xp can only use up to the 8.3 dng converter, but sometimes newer versions work, like for me on this particular windows xp install, the 8.4 dng converter seems to work.

    So, if you didn't already install the 8.4 dng converter, try that and then set the Compatibility in the converter to 5.4 and later before converting the A6000 files to dng copies.

    There are other raw converters like Lightzone and Raw Therapee that work on windows xp, but the workflow is different from using adobe camera raw.
