Hi @Fidigitater two things - 1. Go to preferences/file handling and disable "automatic save recovery". Did you change the recovery folder location? if so where?

2. Go to Photoshop Help Menu/System Info and copy/paste details in a reply. Post only once as the system takes time to process the large amount of data.

In my case, each time i open a document, jpg or other, Photoshop immediatly starts 'writing PNG format' which i have to 'cancel' ; all this taken a huge time when i have to open multiple photos.

How can i stop Photoshop doing this

How is Photoshop "constantly writing PNG"?

PS interrupts any time I perform any task. Resize, move item, when I go view another open window . . . and then back to the working file. In which case I wait twice as long because it is “writing PNG” in both windows. Both files were opened and “Save As” before I started editing.
