Question

Stuck in Frame

A year ago, I made a two-up image to print on a large sheet because the image is popular.  I did some editing on it today while it was still in Frame mode.  Now I can't rotate it or isolate the image because I can't remember how to get it out of frame mode.  Been too long, I guess.

I've copied the image to clipboard and pasted it on a new canvas, but it is carrying the Frame-ness with it.  How do I get it out of Frame mode, with edits intact?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

WV

If I understand the question properly, the important thing to understand is that a frame is a kind of layer group, similar to how artboards and video layers are kinds of layer groups. If what you’re trying to do is get the image out of an object drawn with the Frame tool, then select the frame thumbnail (not the frame layer thumbnail), and then choose the command Layer > Remove Frame from Layer, as shown in the demo below.

Photoshop Remove Frame from Layer.gif

If that’s not what you wanted, please clarify how the image is in “Frame mode.”

I think you've got it, Conrad.

Thanks.

WV, could you please capture the screen, post it here? I'm feeling at a loss, can't imagine what "frame mode" is.

Copying to clipboard then pasting to a canvas won't allow undoing effects, retain layers or masks.

Thanks for your response.

Maybe it's not called "Frame Mode" per se, but the word "frame" is involved, I swear.

See attached screenshot.

It's a thing that allows you to precisely align two of the same image to print on one sheet - in this case, two panoramas.

WV, I still can't Preview attachments (as promised with a redesign of community.adobe.com!).

So, against better judgment, I downloaded the file. Sorry to say, I still don't understand what a "frame" is. What I do see looks like a 3.4 MB png screenshot of Ps canvas with no Ps filename.

Here are the dimensions as displayed by Apple Preview app>Tools>Show Inspector:

The combined png is 1,850H x 1,118W pixels.

Each of the two cropped images is 1,810H x 452W pixels (rotated, 1,810 px W x 452 px H).

2. Tools>Crop

3. Tools>Rotate Left
