Question

Text tool now requires holding T?

I was working in the new Photoshop 2023 yesterday and noticed the Text tool behaves differently now.

When I was working on a text layer and moving it around, pressing T to edit the text was not functioning for more than a moment, I noticed it was blinking off back to the move tool as soon as I let go of T.

I can see the convenience of this particular usage configuration, it is ingenious in its own way, but is there a way to revert the text tool to stay on it when letting go of T? I don't see an otion for it in Preferences.

I was going crazy thinking it was something with my pc, but it was photoshop.
I tried the spring loaded tool shortcuts option but having always written “tttt” when trying it for text was annoying and didn’t work for me. unchecking that option

@Evan1151 do you still encounter the issue?

Go to Preferences > Tools and uncheck "Spring Loaded Tool Shortcuts." Do things work correctly now?

I can get the T shortcut to work consistently using a quick double-tap, if that helps? I cycled through a few keyboard shortcuts and mostly tapping T worked briefly and then reverted to the previous tool. But it doesn't always do that; sometimes, just to be awkward, it does stay on the Text Tool!

I have noticed something similar, but not just with this latest release. The keyboard shortcut does stay, but if I click on the text tool in the toolbar, it does.
