The Remove tool is creating new image information at significantly lower resolution than the source photo

When using the remove tool , as in these two example images, the new image information created by the remove tool is more pixelated and lower rez than the image being edited. See the before and after images where I am removing the road and Semi.  I have used REMOVE for years, and this is a new problem. Any ideas for how to fix this?

For this large area you should probably be using Content-aware fill, instead of the Remove tool, which is intended for smaller-scale repairs.

If you have the Generative AI option on, that goes to Adobe’s servers, with a size limitation of 2000 x 2000 pixels.

For a large removal like the road and truck, Content-Aware Fill is the better built-in choice because Generative AI is resolution-limited. Make a loose selection with some context and test it in sections if needed. I built a Windows panel that automates the 5px expansion, bottom-layer targeting and Content-Aware Fill; AI mode can be left off. It won’t improve Generative AI’s resolution or guarantee a perfect reconstruction.
