Transparency/Layer Issue...please please help!

So I admit I'm very new to Photoshop CC, I used to use Paint Shop Pro 7 so many years ago lol and omg things have changed.

So I downloaded a PNG file and it was transparent outside of the banner. I wanted to move some of the red text up and the white text on the very left up.. I wanted to move the red text up so I could find other HQ logos online because the original I was sent was very small...moving the white text on the left was just for alignment....

but whenever I would do that, it would keep showing transparency where I was moving the text from.... all I could figure to do was to paint the same colours over that transparency area... but something happened can't remember what because that's 2 hrs ago now...

All I know is I was struggling so I decided to flatten everything, then I figured I could hopefully just fix the outside top area of the banner again that was transparent automatically when I downloaded the PNG by being able to make it transparent again, but I couldn't, and so when I started to undo I ended up with just one layer and everything looked perfect.....or so I thought.

I've tried multiple times to import it into premiere and it has all kinds of smudges, including around the area I was painting over the transparency.....can someone please please help by letting me email them the PSD... I'm sure it could be fixed by someone in like 2 minutes... it's been 3 hours for me and i'm just very drained.

It won't let me attach it here.

Thanks so much!

Before moving the section hit cmd-J (Layer > New > Layer Via Copy) to create a Layer of its own for the element, then move that Layer.

Then touch up the region where the elements does not need to be anymore (with Clone Stamp Tool, Healing Brush Tool, Brush Tool, Content Aware Fill, … depending on the surroundings) on another Layer between the two.

png should be allowed to upload, no idea what the problem might be.

C.pfaffenbichler thanks so much for replying! That did the trick.....it's weird because I remember using Adobe Premiere 6.5 and Adobe Photoshop 7 and somehow found those easier... I swear I remember with PSP 7 just being able to choose the original colour, select text and move it and it would be the same... anyway the way you showed me totally worked, so thanks very much, I appreciate your help a lot!

It won't let me upload the PNG file unfortunately...i get an error...but basically I use the rectangular marquee tool to move some text in an image. The text was on a banner that has a white background. I can move the text fine, but where the text originally was before being moved becomes transparent after I move it. I want the area where the text initially was to stay white.

There's another area of text on the banner that naturally had a blue background. I can select the that part of the image and move the text...but when I do, instead of the background staying blue like it initially was....it goes transparent.

This is a banner image with 1 layer

The fact that you've taken 3 hours and someone could fix it in two minutes... if someone does it for you, how long will it take you next time? Still 3 hours? And will you try again to get people to do the hard stuff...? Personally, I don't like this. In this forum, we like to help people learn. We don't like to just do work for people, especially privately. Many people here are professionals, and if you want to pay their hourly rate it may be a different story. On the other hand many people will freely take a lot of time to explain how to do stuff, and help people develop their skills. Please play the game.

    Hi Kevin,

You can copy and paste to a forum window or click the attachment button. You can’t send an email attachment if you are trying to do that.

I don’t seem to fully understand what you are trying to describe.

Please post screenshots including the Layers Panel.
