Hello,

I have tried to find a tutorial or something explaining how to use transparent images, but could not find one. Here is what I am trying to do:

I found a vector image online that says it's transparent and I want to overlay that with a photo of my A Cappella group. The vector image is just some light effects. But when I import the PNG file into Adobe Photoshop CC 2019, the background of the vector image is checkered and greyscale and I don't know how to change that or move the image to another layer or what. If you can help that would mean a lot. I am new to Adobe creative sweet. This may be a very complicated process, but I am ready and willing to learn. Also here is what the file looks like.

JPEG files cannot have transparency. I recommend a tutorial on file types and features, that would really help if you don't understand the basics.

png is not a vector format so please try to clarify what you mean.

What are the available file formats for the image?

This is where I got the image. It didn't start out as a PNG file. It only gave me a EPS and a JPG. I put it into illustrator and converted it into a PNG. I probably did something wrong or just too much of a novice to understand how this works.

Why didn’t you use a more flexible format like ai?

Did you hide the background in Illustrator before exporting the png?

Please post a screenshot of the eps opened in Illustrator with the expanded Layers Panel visible.

Hi

Are you sure it's a PNG with transparency, do have a link to the original download, the image you posted doesn't have a transparent background
