Trimming a shape to not exceed the canvas in Photoshop 2025

Is it even possible?  If so, how to trim a rectangle that is exceeding the canvas?

I do it with background images all the time without a sweat using Image->Trim

Just make your canvas bigger than the shape.   Users tend to wrap their heads around "Canvas size"- with no reason to.
I always use the crop tool to make my canvas larger when needed.  Don't worry abour canvas proportions: concern youurself with your image on the canvas, and not the canvas size- do that, and you will find graphic creation easier.

" as I could not find a way to change the workspace full white."   Make a layer, fill it with white, move it to the bottom of the layer stack.

However I think you could be talking about what you see below.

Are you seeing large files sizes and want to trim them down? I think you may just need to rasterize the shape layer, but it depends on what other big data might be in the file. 2.2MB is just from removing the gradient fill, but still leaving the shape layer editable.

You might consider using Reveal All (located just below the Trim command). I may not fully grasp your request, by the way.

I wish I could give your post two likes Bojan.  One for suggesting Reveal All, and the other the roundabout way you are asking why does the OP need to trim out of bounds content?  It's a combination of Schrödinger's Cat, trees that fall in the woods, and one hand clapping.  If you don't open the box to see if the cat is dead, and don't care if the tree makes a noise when it hits the ground (so long as it does not land on your head), then don't worry about it.

Please provide a sample file, or at least a screenshot to illustrate.
