Question

trouble saving a new document in PS

I tend to save some new (empty) documents I creat  and use often (in a certain format) in PS. For a few days I can re-open them using the save tab in the 'open a new document' screen. But then after a few days  when I start PS all my saved documents are gone. All I see is the default photoshop size 16x12cm and my saved folder is empty. I have no idea why this happens, should I change something in my settings?

Are you opening these documents and saving them?

If so, then think about saving themas new templates from the New Document panel.

Those presets will then forever be available from the New Docs > Saved tab.

Another approach that would be to use Creative Cloud Libraries.  This effective lets you create a new document preset that has content, and one you can use from anywere in the world with an Internet connection. I usually use Smart Objects for this so you can have multiple layers.  Drag the SO to a Library, and later find and double click the file, and it will open a new Document with library content.  This is especially useful for client work when you can save color swatches, fonts, logos etc. to save having to hunt for them next time you do work for that client.

Thank you so much for your reply. I do exactly what you show in the first images.

You say: Those presets will then forever be available from the New Docs > Saved tab.
But when I do this,  after a few days they are all gone and all I see is the the default photoshop size 16x12cm and none of my own formats I saved.

You need to note where you are saving your files, and use a proper file browser to open them again.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
