Question

Unable to use tools in Photoshop on macOS Monterey

So, I'm posting this as my last resort. I've tried every single solution on this community forum as well as youtube and nothing seems to be working. After updating photoshop, as well as my computers software (MacOS Monterey 12.0.01) the only way photoshop will SOMETIMES work is if I exit and restart the app multiple times- and that 95% of the time does not even help. The issue is that when I open a photo in photoshop and try to use any tools within photoshop on it, they do not work no matter how many times I click, shift-J or restart the app entirely. I'm becoming increasingly frustrated as I am a professional photographer just trying to get pictures back to clients. Any help please....

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop on your Mac. It would be helpful if you could share the exact version of Photoshop you're using as well.

You can check if Photoshop has the necessary permissions on your Mac by following the steps mentioned below:

1. Go to the System Preferences for your Mac, then Security and Privacy, then select the Privacy tab.

2. Then select Accessibility from the list to the left & check if Photoshop is added to the list with a check mark in front of it.

3. If Photoshop is not a part of the list, please add it by unlocking the window first using the lock at the bottom left, then clicking the + icon & navigating to the Applications folder.

4. Also, grant permissions to Photoshop under Full disk access located in the same list as Accessibility.

5. Once done, restart the Mac & check if it helps.

If the issue persists, you can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset_preferences

Please backup your settings prior to resetting the preferences. You can check: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#BackupPhotoshoppreferences

Let us know how it goes!

Regards,

Nikunj
