unwanted stair-stepping blur at edges of cylinder-warped artwork

I'm using the cylinder warp tool in Photoshop 25.1 on macOS  14.1 to wrap a label around a bottle and it's giving me a stair-stepping blur at the edges. When i have the layer selected and select transform, the blur disappears, so i know it's the cylinder warp causing the issue. Attached screenshot shows the right side of the label, but it's the same on the left side as well.

Is this a setting i can adjust or is it a bug?
