Question

Updating Photoshop v 26.5 removes an update for Photoshop (beta) v 26.6 from New updates

I am not sure where I should post this issue, which has been happening to me for some time now and again today.

I had two updates in the CC Desktop App today. One for Photoshop v 26.5 and one for Photoshop (beta) v 26.6. See this screenshot:

I click the Update button for Photoshop v 26.5. When it's done, Photoshop (beta) v 26.6 is no longer in the New updates section, but is listed in Recent updates saying it was updated 9 days ago. Here is the screenshot after only updating Photoshop v 26.5:

Has Photoshop (beta) v 26.6 also been updated? Not according to the Recent updates section. Checking the Photoshop (beta) v 26.6 reveals Version: 26.6.0 20250413.m.3042 b0b0848 x64, which seems like a build done 11 days ago. Checking Photoshop v 26.5, I find it is Version: 26.5.0 20250318.r.16 0a154be x64. That build is even older, over a month ago, yet it was supposedly updated today!

Previously, I have clicked the Update button for Photoshop (beta) and the reverse happens; the Photoshop update gets removed from the New updates section.

The Photoshop and Photoshop (beta) forums are very poor at keeping users informed regarding the current build versions, let alone what, if anything, has changed, been fixed or added when updates appear in the CC App. This leaves most users completely in the dark.

I have been waiting for the CC App to offer me Updates for Photoshop 26.6 and Photoshop (Beta) 26.7 in the New Updates section, which happened yesterday.

I had logged out, removed the CC App, renistalled it and logged back in.

Yesterday, I made a note of the build for Photoshop 26.6, which was:

Adobe Photoshop Version: 26.6.0 20250414.r.14 f1f3569 x64

I clicked on Update for Photoshop (Beta) 26.7. When it finished, both Photoshop versions were moved to the Recent Updates section, with Photoshop 26.6 stating it was updated 12 days ago; its build had not changed.

Photoshop (Beta) 26.7 stated it had updated today; its build was:

Adobe Photoshop Version: 26.7.0 20250504.m.3064 04e6e29 x64

confirming that it was a very recent update.

So, either the update notice for Photoshop 26.6 was incorrect or it was moved to the Recent Updates section without being updated. I don't know what the latest build is for Photoshop 26.6.

Whatever is going on, it's clearly wrong.

Hi @drtonyb

Sorry to hear about your experience. Just to let you know, Photoshop version 26.6 is now generally available (GA) and can be downloaded via the Creative Cloud desktop app. You can find more details [here].

On your machine specifically, this seems to be related to a Creative Cloud sync issue. I recommend completely uninstalling the Creative Cloud desktop app, then reinstalling it. Once reinstalled, try updating Photoshop to version 26.6 using this link.

Let us know how it goes—we’re here to help!

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
