Urgent UI Feedback: Revert Layer Selection/Deselection Changes

Question

I need to provide some urgent feedback regarding recent user interface changes, specifically concerning layer selection and deselection.
The new automatic bounding box that appears whenever I select a layer is a disruptive addition. It wasn't there before, and I'd really appreciate an option to turn it off.
Even more problematic is the loss of the ability to deselect an object by simply double-clicking. This functionality has been a standard and incredibly efficient part of the workflow for roughly 25 years. Now, having to go all the way to the layers panel and click to deselect is a significant downgrade in convenience and speed.
These changes are prime examples of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I strongly urge you to reconsider these alterations and, ideally, restore the previous, more intuitive behaviors.

Hey, @denial_8047. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out.

You can select the Move Tool, click on the Gear Icon in the toolbar menu, and disable 'Show layer bounds on hover'. Head here to learn more about this: https://adobe.ly/4emEErB

You can also disable 'Auto select' to avoid selecting another layer when you double click.
