Question

Using the field blur

I"m using the field blur to progressively blur backgrounds as I want.  I don't want to use one of the other blurs...

I cannot find a way to do a couple things:

How do I set the blur amount so when I create additional pins they DON'T go back to 15 px?

How do I duplicate pins so I can create a whole row of pins with the same blur?

How do I select multiple pins so I can move them as a group?

This all seems like trivial stuff that should be obvious, but I'm not finding it...

you're right, those tasks are trivial, but they were never implemented and probably never will be. Right now, Adobe is shifting hard into AI tools and there's a good chance all the old tools in Ps won't receive any more updates.

»chance« being an euphemism for »risk«, I guess.

If anyone has the answer, or a workaround, it will be Jesus Rameriz on the Photoshop Training Channel.  Searching his channel with Field Blur brings up a bunch of videos

That's all interesting, but doesn't answer the question.  WHERE is the forum for asking to have this problem addressed?  So far, everything just dumps me back to a page of meaningless word salad that appears designed to ensure that the users DON'T ask for deficiencies to be addressed.

Just mark your new post as »Idea«.

Though I rarely (bsaically never) do Feature Requests any more because Adobe has universally ignored those I've tried over the last 22 years, I figured, why not.....  There MAY be an easy way to do it, but if so, I didn't find it...

Feature requests are still worth doing, arguably more so now than in the past. Because one thing that changed over the past 22 years is that there is now public accountability. Up to a few years ago, feature requests and bug reports were a plain form that disappeared into some black hole, and you would never know if anything was done about it.

Today, the Bugs and Ideas sections here are at least marked with a status. We can check the Status to see if Adobe is even considering something. In the Ideas feature requests, if you filter on Status of “Released”, you can see that actually quite a few user requests have been done and are available now. Of course, that doesn’t guarantee anything because the feature requests that get done first are the ones not only with the most votes, but which have the most competitive value to Adobe and the least complications from a programming point of view. For bugs, the What’s New in Photoshop release notes link many fixes back to their original user bug reports here, which again is helpful from a public accountability perspective.

As for Field Blur, I looked around too and tried a bunch of shortcuts that work everywhere else, but they don’t work in Filter Gallery. I was surprised myself at how seemingly unfinished it is. It is totally worth submitting a request to support the same kind of defaults, duplication, and alignment management that are available elsewhere in the application.

Unfortunately even if a Feature Requests technically gets implemented that can miss the point of the Feature Request … see the customizable Warp-Grids.

Those options do not seem to be described in the documentation so I assume they do not exist.

Feel free to post a Feature Request on improving the Filter Gallery.

I couldn't find anything in any of the documentation or online info either, but I usually figure that means I'm missing it.  Which, after enough hours running around searching, is when I come in here and ask.  Now at least I know I'm not missing something obvious.  Thanks.

If you do post a Feature Request please also post the link here.

Considering the interface (and general) shortcomings some other Filters, especially some of the older ones,  have I would not be too optimistic, though.
