Using Touch gestures with a touchpad doesn't work
Using Touch gestures with a touchpad doesn't work
I have a desktop PC with Windows 10 x64 and a Wacom Intuos Pro L Touch.
I usually keep the touch function of the tablet disabled because it sometimes interferes when using the stylus when I accidentally touch the surface with a finger or a knuckle and the stylus tip is raised to high to be detected and this makes my work difficult. I keep a expresskey dedicated to enable the touch feature mainly because rotating the canvas with the Touch Ring is laggy and not very intuitive, so I only use touch gestures when I want to rotate the canvas.
Recently I observed how a friend of mine used the touchpad of his laptop to pan, rotate and zoom so he doesn't need to enable the touch feature of his Intuos.
Since I have a desktop computer, I hadn't a touchpad but I easily imagined the benefits of having one. I could keep the touch of my Intuos disabled so I don't activate it accidentally but I could use all the pan, zoom and rotate gestures in a trackpad placed at the side of my Intuos (mouse to the left side of it since I am left handed and trackpad to the right).
The problem is I have already tried 4 different MULTITOUCH touchpads but none of them seems to work!
I have tried:
- Logitech wireless touchpad TR0002.
- The trackpad in the Logitech K400 Plus wireless Keyboard.
- Speedlink Sway USB Multitouch.
- Perixx PERIPAD-501II
With some of them I can only scroll up and down (vertical pan) and with some others I can pan but can't zoom or rotate the canvas.
The Peripad works right from the box and the others need drivers from the manufacturer, some of them work as pan and or zoom in many programs (such as Internet explorer, Windows Explorer or Firefox) and some only as scroll up and down (just like a mouse wheel)
So, my question is, How can I make any of these trackpads to work in my PC just as my friend's trackpad worked in his laptop?
If not, is there any brand/model of external trackpad that works with Photoshop?
Here is a resume of each trackpad:
- Logitech wireless touchpad TR0002:
Pan WORKS
Zoom DOESN'T WORK
Rotation DOESN'T WORK
Manual or drivers don't show any mention of a rotate or zoom gesture but has other gestures for one, two, three and four fingers
- The trackpad in the Logitech K400 Plus wireless Keyboard.
Pan WORKS
Zoom DOESN'T WORK
Rotation DOESN'T WORK
Zoom gesture works in other programs
- Speedlink Sway USB Multitouch.
Pan WORKS BAD (scroll up/down works ans you move but left/right only shows result AFTER you remove your fingers from the trackpad, not during the movement)
Zoom WORKS BAD (as in pan, the result of the gesture can only be seen when you remove your fingers from the trackpad)
Rotation DOESN'T WORK
Zoom gesture works in other programs. The manual shows it has rotation gesture. No three of four finger gestures. Everything except vertical scroll is very laggy and driver has no options at all.
- Perixx PERIPAD-501II
Pan DOESN'T WORK, only vertical scroll
Zoom DOESN'T WORK
Rotation DOESN'T WORK
Zoom gesture works in other programs, horizontal scroll doesn't work. (features only mention zoom gesture)
