Weird problem with latest update of Camera Raw v17.5.0.2318

I am not a super heavy user of Photoshop

Products used tha all exhibit the problem

Adobe Photoshop 2025 v 26.9

Adobe Photoshop 2024 v25.12.4

Adobe Bridge v15.1.1.729

Camera Raw v17.5.0.2318

Mac Studio M1, 2022- Memory 32GB Mac OS Sequoia 15.6

Opened a 608.6MB tiff file (11694 x 8116- Resolution 2400x2400)

Opened the Tiff image in Adobe Bridge and attempted to use Healing tool to remove spots.

Tool settings Size 3, Feather 7

I had just updated to latest version of apps thinking that the remove dust AI might accelerate the process

(which it found no dust on the scanned image even though the prints were dusty). I don’t think that has any thing to do with the problem as I didn't attempt to try it more that once. I decided to manullay remove the dust.

The attached screen captures show how this operation brought the app to a stand still . If you clicked the tool on a spot nothing happened for 15-20 seconds.  The applications were basically brought to a standstill and became unusable. No visual feedback that spot had been removed.

This happend across all listed versions of PS and Bridge.

Attached you can see the way CPU usage spiked….

I reduced the size of the image to around 80MB and things were back to normal.

It appears to be a problem with Camera Raw 17.5…and a large image file.

Hi Lynn23239863xiuh,

Just checking in to see if you're still experiencing the same behavior. Have you tried updating Photoshop to the latest version (26.10)?

Thanks,
Nikunj

Hi, thanks for reaching out!

Please go to the Help menu in Photoshop, then System Info, and copy the text. You can share the info with us by either pasting it as a reply here or in a text file and sharing the file with us.

Try adding Photoshop and Bridge to Full Disk Access using the steps mentioned here: https://adobe.ly/4oHIeRw

You can also access Camera Raw's Preferences from Photoshop by clicking on the Photoshop menu, then Settings, then Camera Raw. In the Preferences window, select Performance and ensure that the option to Use Graphics Processor is enabled.

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks,
Nikunj
