What happened to my HUD color picker after the latest upgrade?

I just upgraded to Photoshop 27.9.1 and the HUD color picker center square is mostly white, with color fading in on the right and bottom of the square. The regular color picker on the tool menu still works fine, but the HUD picker is MESSED UP! Any idea what happened?

    Based on what's out there, no exact match for this specific white-square symptom in 27.9.1, but it fits a known pattern: recent 2026 Photoshop builds have had several GPU-rendering glitches tied to updates — things like washed-out colors and white/blank rendering that only show up when "Use Graphics Processor" is on, while CPU-rendered UI (like your regular color picker panel) stays fine.
    Try these in order:

    1. Toggle GPU acceleration: Edit/Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > uncheck "Use Graphics Processor," restart, and check the HUD picker again.
    2. Try Older GPU Mode: Preferences > Technology Previews > "Use Older GPU Mode (pre-2016)" — this fixed a similar white-square rendering bug for other users on 27.x builds.
    3. Update your GPU driver — several of these bugs trace back to driver mismatches with new Photoshop GPU code, not Photoshop itself.
    4. Reset Preferences: Preferences > General > "Reset Preferences on Quit," then restart.
    5. If none of that works, it's likely worth filing a bug report at feedback.photoshop.com — this looks like a fresh regression Adobe hasn't documented publicly yet for 27.9.1 specifically.

    Thank you very much for your reply. Here’s what I tried:

    1. This didn’t work.
    2. My Photoshop version doesn’t show a “Use Older GPU Mode” selection.
    3. When I googled how to update the GPU driver, it said Photoshop graphics drivers cannot be updated separately. I updated my Mac OS to the latest version and restarted Photoshop but still nothing.
    4. I’m not a power user, so I’m going to have to figure out where my backup prefs and stuff are so I can get everything back the way I like it after resetting. This step always scares me because there’s always something I miss and it takes me hours to figure out how to get it back.

    The first question is what bit-mode are you working in? 8-, 16-, or 32?

    Also, can you post a screenshot of your Heads Up Display color picker so we can see what you are seeing?

    I’m running 8-bit RGB. I’ll attach the color picker as viewed from the tool menu, as well as the HUD picker.
