Which of the current PS tools will flag my work as AI?

Hey there,

Since the introduction of the EU AI Act I need to know precisely which tools in Photoshop will get my work flagged as AI, so I can circumvent their use.

I already ditched LRC because of this and for not getting any answers on said questions anywhere. Working with the basic toolset on PS right now, but since selections apparently are also made with AI now, and anything involving AI seems to get flagged, I need to know precisely, please. 

Why - because some of my clients aren’t very happy about getting their pics flagged upon using them on Meta platforms because I removed a bottle, and because they need to be “clearly marked” as “Made with AI” or whatever else. I can already see this becoming a huge headache. Marking every single file in various sizes for print and Social Media. Thanks.

Please someone clarify. I can only find slop info on this, plus a PDF from Capacanada, and I have to ask for every single tool, because a general slop question leaves tools out it informed me as using AI beforehand, and the linked PDF seems to leave out selection tools.

In LRC, it seems like masking tools, denoise and upscale are critical, and maybe some more I can’t get clear answers on. Now, I don’t know or understand why a mask has to count as slop, but if it does, so be it. I did fine without them before. I just wish I could work without being bothered with constant new pitfalls due to “higher productivity”

      OK - I’m just really insecure atm because info varies wildly - masks, denoise, exterrnal PlugIns etc allegedly being flagged. If I, for example inkoke Topaz DenaoisAI or SharpenAI etc., will my image get flagged? I was told YES, but by users.

      I read that allegedly some tools (in LRC) may or may not be using GenAI, though it doesn’t say, “because the results are better”.

      So I can safely assume that wherever GenAI is involved, there will be a ticker or info displayed? CameraRaw apparently got updated with a general GenAI kill switch. That would be great in PS & LRC as well.

      Generally, anything that stops working when you pull out the internet cable. Generative AI is not processed locally by your machine, but remotely on Adobe’s servers (or third-party vendors’ servers).

       

      The only exception is the new “Device” mode Remove Tool, but to get to that you first have to enable it in the rolldown:

       

      A global kill switch has been an active feature request for a long time.

        I always had anything set to “device” when possible, but if it’s GenAI, it’s out.

        Thanks a lot for the support, I think I have a sufficiently clear picture now, feels much better!

        P.S. looking for that feature request, I’ll support it as well

        Anything with “Generative” or “Generate” in the name for a start. One would need to look deeper though.

        I’m not sure on “Remove Tool using an AI Mode” option.

         

        There are may be others that I don’t recall off the top of my head.

         

        AI trained commands such as Select Subject or Neural Filters aren’t classed in the same category as “generative”.

          The Remove tool will also trigger it when generative AI is on. The rolldown in the options bar needs to be set to “Generative AI: off”.

           

          The Crop tool set to “expand” will use generative AI.

           

          All the tools that can optionally use generative AI will have a rolldown in the options bar to disable it. For the dedicated AI tools, go to Edit > Menus, and remove them from the menus.

           

          It’s important to be aware that some applications don’t read the Content Credentials flag, they use their own algorithms. In that case you may get false positives.

           

          And yes, machine learning is not the same as generative AI. Those functions don’t add external/non-native image content on their own.
