In Photoshop 26.1

Windows 11 ver. 23H2

Steps to reproduce:

 0. Create two layers

 1. Create objects on each layer (even a point)

 2.Create a mask over object 1

3.Using whatever brush draw a stroke

On the place of a brush stroke you will have a huge white square and navigator is showing a grey rectangle

Note: If you draw something and then turn it into a mask it will work

Hey there,

We're sorry about your experience with the layer issue in Photoshop. Thanks for sharing the steps and video.

Also, could you make sure you don't have the eraser tool selected?

Could you turn on the visibility toggle for the 2nd layer?

If the above things don't work, then try the below steps:

Try resetting the preferences in Photoshop:

Before doing that, take a backup:

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
