Why is photoshop leaving a white cut-out of my text layer when I move it?

I need to move some of my text layers on an invitation to add one in between them. When I do move a layer, or turn off it’s visibility, it leaves behind a white cutout in the original position.

See here where I’ve moved the black text up.

    No, not editable or selectable, just looks like text. Oh wait, just to prove my discussion, I decided to turn off every layer so that you could still see it. But it went. Somehow, it made an “impression” on the layer containing a picture at the top of my invite. I selected and deleted an area from that image layer which fixed it.

    Sorry for wasting your time guys, and thank you again for replying to me.

    @beamer2470

    Is it editable text or is it pixels that look like text?

    How are you selecting it?

    Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible?

    Are you sure the Layer with the pattern is »complete«?

    Could there be a white copy of the Type Layer?

    Edit: While a GPU problem does not seem impossible I would recommend checking for possible file related problems first.

    Thank you for your reply. I am rushing out again now, so will post a screen-shot later. I have turned off Multithreaded compositing and Use Graphics Processor with no luck.  And also toggle all the options in Technology Previews with no luck either. I don’t know how there would be a white copy of the text layer, although I am a novice.
