Question

Why is the most recent version of Photoshop so insufferably broken?

I downloaded the latest version of Photoshop for work the other day, and I am unable to even create a new blank template without the entire program crashing. Is this a common issue with the new release? I’ve updated my graphics card, uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, and am now attempting to revert to an older version because I have work I need to do.

This is an insane amount of hassle for the cost of a subscription.

Usually this is a GPU issue. GPU requirements tend to increase with every new version, and a GPU that used to work may not with new Photoshop graphics code. Latent problems may turn up.

System Info may show what the problem is.

And yes, Photoshop 27.9 is rock solid here too.

For a superficial check on GPU issues one can try turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Settings > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop.

More information would be helpful. Please copy the information you will find in the Menu → Help → System Info. Then paste it directly in a reply in this thread.

Just two days ago, I created a fairly complex composite illustration with PS Ver. 27.9.1 with no issues at all. My system info is in my signature.
