Question

Will removing person's name from Keywords keep it from showing up on Google?

How do I remove a keyword on a photoshop file that is now in the public domain, ie: showing up on google search? I put the persons' name in Keywords, and so it shows up on a Google search. The person does not want this image to be shown in the public. Is this possible? Thank you!

You can remove the keyword by opening the file in Photoshop, going to File > File Info > Keywords, and deleting the person’s name. Then re-save and re-upload the updated version. However, Google may still show the old version for a while you’ll need to request removal via Google Search Console’s Remove outdated content tool to fully clear it from search results.

This is not a Photoshop question — it's more of a search engine optimization (SEO) question, and you might find a forum that covers SEO to ask your question.

whoever has it online would need to take it down.

Once it is in the public, it has been replicated in the cache servers of Google, the process to remove them can be long.

Hi!

How did you add the keyword to the Photoshop file? In Bridge? In Lightroom? In the title of the image?

Once an image is in the public, it is not a Photoshop issue anymore. You are actually asking two questions. 1) removing the keyword and 2) how to remove the image—not just the keyword.

To remove the keyword, go to whatever program you created it in, and remove the Keyword. Save the image.

To remove the image in Google Search is not done in Photoshop--you need to go to google. I did a search and here is an article that might help: https://www.makeuseof.com/remove-images-google-searches/

If this doesn't fix the issue, do a google search on removing images.

Let us know if that helps,
