Question

Writing a simple action to alter each file name.

When using DXO PurRaw, the file mane is saved as: Example "_20A0015-CR2_DxO_DeepPRIMEXD" What I want to do in an action is delete the unnecessary characters "CR2_DxO_DeepPRIMEXD" but not change the original file name "_20A0015". When I try to write an action, it saves all subsequent files as _20A0015.jpg. Obviously not desirable.
Is there a way to do this in an action?

Thanks for your help!

Oh, I misunderstood what you were asking. @Stephen Marsh's recommendation to use Adobe Bridge is a good idea. Here's more info:

Not with an Action.

You will either need to use Adobe Bridge or another file renaming tool that can remove the unwanted, fixed string of characters "-CR2_DxO_DeepPRIMEXD" – or a Photoshop script can rename when opening files or when saving files.

Have you looked into your DXO preferences for file naming?

Do you not want the files saved as JPEGs, or do you just not want the file extension as part of the name?

If you're on macOS, you can hide the extensions:
