Question

2020 to 2023 facial recognition

I have PSE 2020 and love the facial recognition in the organizer.

Is the PSE 2023 upgrade worthwhile for the facial recognition?

My preference would be to keep the earlier version installed until everything is up and running with the new version.  (I have versions 4 and 10 through 2023 installed on my main computer.)

Also, be aware that Adobe offers a 30 day refund policy.  I say this because, historically, Elements releases a new version at this time of year.  Also, in years past, when a new version is released within a short period after a user makes a purchase of the earlier product, the user can request a free upgrade if they act promptly.

Each version of Elements is installed as a separate program.  However, you are entitled to an "upgrade" discount as a prior owner.  I recommend that you choose to convert your catalog when offered that opportunity upon first launch of the Organizer (unless you are having some problems with your current catalog).

Thanks Greg, I understand that.

My question was should I uninstall 2020 before I install 2023 to eliminate any performance degradation from legacy (2020) files, DLLs, etc...

IMO, there has been a significant improvement in facial recognition between the two versions, both in speed and accuracy.

There are many other new/improved features since Elements 2020.  You can find them listed here.

Thanks Greg.

Upgrade or clean install of 2023 and re import photos?

If that is your only factor in upgrading- no it's not worth it.... facial recognition is the same in either version.
