actually getting some help [Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 has quit working on MacBook Pro]

I've been trying all night to actually get help with my Abobe Photoshop Elements 9 that is installed on my MacBook Pro and has decided to quit working. Does anyone actually ever get help from this site?

    I am getting the following messages.

    Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because th installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author.

    and,

    Adobe Application Manger is not optimized for your Mac. This app needs to be updated by its developer to improve compatibility.

    This is a user to user forum occasionally visited by Adobe staff. Assistance from Adobe on this forum on a weekend is unlikely.

    Perhaps start by giving us some details:

    • Operating system
    • What exactly is wrong? Can you launch the software?
    • Any error messages?
