adding a gif into a still image

Hi There.

I really need some assistance. I am currently trying to add a gif into a still image in photoshop - but whenever I copy and paste frames into a timeline, photoshop crashes. I have googled this and it seems to be a common issue. In a different forum the staff member said to install the latest photoshop update to fix the problem. I have looked to install the latest update - and it says I already have the latest version. I'm running on a school laptop so I'm not sure if thats why I can't download the latest version with the fixed bug. Please help me to resolve this issue.
