Adding Text to a Photo

I am trying to add text to a photo using Photoshop Elements 14.  I add a text box to a photo, select a font and font size, and start typing.  When I hit ENTER to start a second line, the cursor disappears and no additional text can be added no matter how large a text box is.  I should be able to start a second line of text.  Any help would be immensely appreciated!

Try typing without previously creating a text box. The text will come in on a separate layer. Click on the green check-mark to commit. Then. activate the move tool and position the text to suit.
