Hello and thanks.

First issue i have LOTS of gifs and small icons on my pc I don't want them as a part of my catalogue.  Any way to exclude type or size of file to import.  I can not see one,.  Oddly enough it is these small gifs that are showing up in media area.

Second -  People not so much.  when i right click on my photos folder a lot get imported.  But when i go to the People section of Organizer they do not show up.... Arg what am i doing wrong.

If there are online tutorials I am glad to watch.  I tried some and none of them were what i was looking for,.

Unfortunately, there is no way to do multiple AND/OR Boolean Expressions.  Therefore, I think you need to delete each type of file, one at a time.  So, for example, the following search will find all gif files under 40kb.

To find all music files, use the single search criterion in the dropdowns of Media type is Audio.  Alternatively, in the View>Media Types menu, you can uncheck Photos, Videos and Projects so that only Audio files are present in the grid.

Question 1:  Do a search for each type of file that you want to remove.  Press Shift+Ctrl+K and enter e.g. "gif" in the text box.  That should bring up all your gif files which you can then select and delete from the catalog (without deleting the files from your computer).

To find small size files, try searching using the Find>By Details (Metadata) dialog.  This allows you to set the size of the files you are looking for:

Question 2:  I'm not sure if I understand your question. When you import photos into the Organizer, they must first go through a face recognition process.  Once that is completed, you have to name the faces that have been recognized in the UnNamed People tab of the People mode.  If you think you should have more photos with faces in the UnNamed People tab, make sure you have unchecked the box to Hide Small Stacks.

Thanks so much.  As to question 1 i now have a zillion things under 40kb but not sure of my next step. I am not sure how to do my querry.  I want to take out music files and take out gif and take out png but the more things i add to the querry it seems to look for all of those things and then put back in the small files that are not png gif etc.  I really appreciate your help.

Question two it is now processing 30,000 pictures i see in the lower right corner so it has a lot of time it needs

Thanks. Kurt

Hi kurtg22448960,

I sounds as if your PSE Organizer is searching your entire PC for Items to include in its catalog. Maybe you should check your Organizer "Watch Folders..." to see what it's looking at. On the top menu bar click on File>Watch Folders... You can remove folders that contain your music, GIF, and PNG files.

On my PC, I put my photos (JPG or RAW) in the Windows "Pictures" folder. My music goes into the Windows "Music" folder. My clip art collection (JPG, GIF, & PNG) goes to a separate folder on my drive.

This is what my Watch Folders settings look like.
