Adobe Elements 2022 Issue

After opening and closing about five or six CR3 files, the program will no longer open and Windows will open several instances of the process in the background with each attempt of opening a CR3 file and it will get stuck and not open. The only way to successfully get the program back open again is to terminate the processes that are piling up in the background or restart the computer. Does anyone know why this would occur and how to fix it?

How much time elapses between closing the program and opening the next file?  Are you doing this immediately?

What happens if you simply close the file rather than close the program each time?

Occasionally, I have seen the program failing to terminate properly.  This has been random with no real solution.

You might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the program.  And if you still run into this problem, you can try contacting Adobe support who (with your permission) can take control of your computer and see what else may be interfering with the termination of the program or the possible memory leak.

I upgraded to 2023 and this has seemed to fix the issue so far. But I do think you are right in that the program was failing to terminate before opening the next file and getting stuck in memory. If I have issues with 2023 I will reach out to Adobe. Thanks for your help!

I don't recall seeing anything quite like that before.  Can you tell us a little more about your workflow?

Are you using the Organizer, and if so are you opening the raw files from there?

Where are the files stored?  (Internal or external drive? Network drive?)

Are the files being synched with something like OneDrive?

Are you editing in the ACR and/or opening the files in the Editor?

The files are being stored on my internal hard drive. I am not using the organizer. Files are not being synced by OneDrive. I am right clicking on CR3 files in Windows File Explorer and selecting "open with" Elements 2022 which opens the ACR. After I make my adjustments to the raw image I then click "open" to bring the file into the editor to make further adjustments to save to a JPG. And close the program and start the process over with other CR3 images.

I do this process and after about 3 to 4 to 5 times the program will not open and then that's when windows will start making duplicate processes everytime you attempt to open a cr3 file.
