Adobe Elements 2024 through the Windows Store [How to install Camera Raw 16.5?]

I have Adobe Elements 2024, bought through the Windows Store. The issue is that Adobe Camera Raw is still at version 16.0, even though I've manually installed version 16.5 to get support for my new camera.

What do you mean you don't have the righst to?  How are you trying to access the path and what happens when you do?

. . .  or find the location of the current Camera Raw.8bi file and replace it.

I do not have the rights to, even being a local admin. And neither Microsoft nor Adobe have support. Adobe doesn't allow support without a key, and when bought via the MS App Store, it doesn't have a key, and MS doesn't offer easy support.

Simce you made your purchase through the MS store- that is where you are really suppossed to go for support:  this is just a user to user forum, and we try.

It sounds to me, let me know if I'm wrong here:   You are trying to manually install ACR onto a school type computer.  Directories and options are hidden, even turned off for a local user.   If I even want to add a printer to a local computer at school someone with admin rights has to do it, local users cannot do it.

If i'm right: you gotta get someone with admin rights to install it- using tghe directions ytou have been provided.

Please explain what you mean by this.  Are you unable to find the folder mentioned by Glenn?

Unfortunately, there are differences between the program bought from the Windows store and the purchased directly from Adobe.  You may have run into one of those differences.  When you say that  you manually installed ACR 16.5, how did you do that?  Simply donwloading and installing from the Adobe website is not sufficient.  The Camera Raw.8bi file needs to be placed in the correct location suggested by Glenn.  It's possible that your installation requires a different location.  You will have to contact Microsoft Support if that is the case, since I don't know where that might be.

Just to be clear:

If you installed ACR 16.5, the Camera Raw.8bi file will be placed in the following directory:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats

You need to copy that file and place it in the directory stated by Glenn:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 24\File Formats

It's completely different since it's installed through the MS store. It seems it's not possible to update, install plugins, or update anything outside the updates through the MS store.
This path do not exists:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 24\

Then create it, and see what happens.

Are you certain that the 8bi file was put in the correct location?

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 24\File Formats

You also really don't need 16.4 unless your camera  requires it.

The OM-1 MK II requires it, and the path is strange and I do not really know how this  works since I do not have acces to updating anything even as local admin. How I use plugin then!!!

Your camera only requires ACR 16.2.   Yo ucan install that version, and any version with a version number larger than `16.2 and you will be fine.
