Question

Adobe Photo Uploader (PSE15) and D610 Raw

Hi,

Last November I posted this question:

--------------------

I've just installed PSE15 on a new MS-Win7Pro PC and it does not recognised files on SD Card from my Nikon D610.

ACR is at 9.6.0.625 and I've installed the latest version of Nikon's ViewNX2.

I can still read the SD Card on my old MS-Win7Home PC with PSE12 so it is definitely something about PSE15 or some setting / plug-in that needs updating.

--------------------

Fortunately about 12 hours later when I tried again it all worked though I had installed nothing in the meantime. I don't know what had changed except that maybe a PC restart in the interim had activated a change made earlier.

Sadly I have recently had to rebuild my C Drive and re-install everything. Worse yet the above problem has now returned and I have not been so lucky this time in managing to resolve it.

I can see thumbnails for and copy the RAW files off the SD card using Windows Explorer. I can open and edit the RAW files in the PSE15 Editor.

My problem is just that the Adobe Photo Downloader just says "This device does not contain any supported media".

ACR is now 9.8.0.692, but everything else is the same as before.

Can anyone please advise what I need to do to get the Downloader working? (Copying and renaming hundreds of files using Windows Explorer would be a tad tedious!)

Thanx,

@shley

How are you importing?

It’s best to connect the camera and bring the image directly into Organizer bypassing any Nikon software.

Try shooting a few new NEFs and let us know if it works.

I am (attempting) to import using the Adobe Photo Downloader (PhotoDownloader.exe), using a built-in SD Card reader in my PC (but it's the same result if I plug in an external SD card reader). It recognises JPG files on the same SD Card but cannot "see" the RAW files.

Yet if I copy a RAW file off using Windows Explorer - in which the RAW files show up with thumbnail and all - I can open and edit the file using PSE15 Editor without a problem.

So it is *only* the Downloader that has a problem with the RAW files.

Hi Ashley,

Before trying below steps, take backup (copy-paste) of your files from SD card to some location on HDD and then format the card. Now please try following tests:

1. Set camera to shoot only in RAW mode and then shoot some (Say 5) images. Now attach the card in card reader and see if APD (Adobe photo downloader) detects the card and shows the media. In case media is shown, are you shown correct thumbnails or just the generic thumbnails? Try to importing these media in default case (deletion/rename/metadata options are set to none).

2. Repeat above steps with ONLY JPEG files and share your observations.

3. Repeat above steps with RAW+JPEG and share your observations.

Please let me know if there are any queries.
