After editing about 10 photos, Elements 2022 freezes when I try to save it

Then I have to quit Elements and start over. I am using OS Monterrey 12.6 on a MacAir. What can I do?

Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements?

Both programs routinely run well. There may be a hardware conflict somewhere. My first guess is a lack of disk space or lack of memory.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have a lot of photos temporarily stored on my Mac Air as I edit them. I'll start moving them.
