After upgrade to Elements 19 Sort by Newest only sorts by date and not time

After a recent upgrade to Elements 19 from a much older version, when I choose sort by newest in the Organizer dropdown in my main grid, my pictures show in correct DATE order but within the day the time is still oldest first within each day. If I pick Oldest in the dropdown it is fine. Any ideas?

Yes,

Have a look at your preferences.

You can choose strictly 'newest' or 'oldest' in the 'newest day'. That's the most preferred choice and you can change it when you want.
