An interger between 50 and 8 is required..problem on 14.1

I try to follow the reg edit info, but I have no "120" as in the sample.

I now can't open perfectly fine JPEGS, and Elements is telling me I have not enough RAM, totally untrue.

Basically, I can't use it.

Of course Windows just installed the "Fall" update.

I reinstalled Photoshop Elements and exactly the same problem.

I see this is common, but the fix I find in help does not apply to Elements.

I did what I was told for 2018. There was a result! Unfortunately the result was to change the message to

‘Could not complete the Auto Smart Fix Command because there is not enough memory (RAM).’ It does not freeze the whole programme as it did before.

I did try entering different levels of memory, but this makes no difference.

The programme worked beautifully in trial mode, so there is plenty of memory.

More hours wasted. I thought Adobe knew how to write code.

What do you know about writing code?

Application programmers create code based on other code provided by the operating system (Win, Mac, Linux...)

When the code from the OS is changed, the routines called by the application program may no longer work. That does not mean the programmer is not able to program the app otherwise. That means that the program has to be rewritten, tested and deployed to replace the old one 'killed' by the OS change. Note that in the meantime, for Elements, a new version is being prepared for the next year (beginning of October probably). So, that would mean a new PSE14, PSE15, PSE2018 and the future PSE2019. A lot of time and money. Adobe never issues updates for older versions. However, Adobe did solve the same OS issue for Photoshop by issueing a new version three months after the dramatic Win 10 upgrade. That's understandable with a program in a monthly subscription model where customers are paying to be updated to the latest version. That proves that Adobe knows about writing code. In the current Elements situation, a new PSE2018 would have been welcomed, but that would have not solved the issue for PSE14 and PSE15 users. They considered the workaround as acceptable.

We have seen from the hundreds of posts about the issue that thousands of users have applied the registry edit successfully and that some have had difficulties to make it work. In your case, it would help if you can post the 12 or 15 first lines of the list you get from the menu Help >> System Information. That would make sure you have correctly applied the edit.

The programme worked beautifully in trial mode, so there is plenty of memory.

The program worked beautifully in normal mode as well in PSE14, 15 and 2018 before the Win update. This has nothing to do with the trial mode.

For those who did not try the workaround repeated above,

1 - It's stupid to try to uninstall and reinstall. Not a line of code has changed in Elements after Windows replaced its previous Win 10 version by a not working one on your computer. The applications like Elements do use resources offered by Windows to work. The solution would be to replace the latest Windows version by the old one. Microsoft makes that nearly impossible. The issue hits users of PSE14, 15 and 2018. Also useless to try to upgrade to 2018.

2 - The registry fix has been applied successfully by thousands of users like you, without knowing anything about the Registry. Just follow the step by step instructions. Two minutes. Some have not applied the fix to the letter: so, no success, but no other issues.

I have the same issue...… uninstalled Photoshop Elements 14 and reinstalled and still have the same message: not enough ram and integers 50/ 8 needed

I was on the chat line with customer service almost all day and no resolution to issue...… am disgusted, want my money back...…. this is a very bad product...…… and no help at all to resolve.
