APE 2020 freezing

I have tried all the standard troubleshooting, but each time I run Photoshop Elements 2020, when it does an automatic scan for photos, after about the 300th photo it just hangs. What can I do???

Are you talking about watched folders or the APD (Adobe Photo Downloader)?  If the APD, where are you downloading from - memory card, camera phone or other device?
