Art board resizing

My wife uses new PS elements Editor for simple image resizing for her website. Previously on an older version, she could set up and art board 1600 x 800, then simply drop a larger image 2800 x 1200 on to the board and move it about until she was happy with the part of the image showing on the artboard, or resize the larger image to fit the smaller board. What is now happening is that the image is automatically fitting to the art board, which is not what she wants to do.

Hopefully the above makes sense...?

Previously she could just drop the image on to the correct board and resize.

    Hopefully that explains it?

I assume that she dragged it from the photo bin to the art board in the work area.

Try selecting the image (Select>all), then Edit>copy, then Edit>paste to the art board.

Thanks - the problem is still that when the image is placed on the art board (any layer), it contrains its self to the art board. In an example of a landscape image, she creates an art board as above, selects the image to insert, this is when the image auto fits to the art board (fits top to bottom with white at either size). Previously she could just drop the image on to the correct board and resize.

    Hopefully that explains it?

Assuming that she has both the "art board" and the image on separate layers, why can't she activate the Move tool and use the corner handle of the bounding box to tailor each to the desired size and slide it into position?

Note that the dimensions which you have posted, i.e. 1600x800 & 2800x1200, have different aspect ratios, i.e.

    4:2 & 7:3 respectively.
